Why Join the Live Sessions?

We are always invited to lay down, close our eyes, and journey into innerdance states of consciousness and the sensations and experience of our inner worlds - at any time.  However, for those who would like the additional support and engagement of a community, the innerdance zoom womb provides a container for this type of space and the gate is open to you.  

We will begin the session with brief sharings and a transmission of ancient cosmology, mythology, and lore to take us through the portal (or down the rabbit hole) of cosmic connections and archaic symbology with relation to the Celestial New Year.  

Can't make it to the live sessions?

What is the Lion's Gate?

This 8/8 celebration comes from the darkness and mystery of a very old echo chamber.  One that began at least 8,000 years ago.  The stories, symbols, and interpretations of darkness and light, death and rebirth, and spiritual transformation that help us through dark nights have ancient origins and cosmic roots.  Tomorrow is a day of celebration for many spiritual or "new-age people" who astrologically consider the 8/8 Lion's Gate to be a significant time for manifestation, prosperity, abundance, and dreams.  However, the origins of this "holiday" begin around 4000 BC when the stars Sirius (Dog Star) and Regulus (Leo) had heliacal risings together around the Summer Solstice date of June 23rd.

From the vast lands and civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia to the thriving dynasties of Egypt, this particular celestial event - the rising of Sirius - also signaled the New Year and a time of rains that would flood the valleys and rivers and initiate the season of agriculture.  The symbolism of a star rising above the horizon also signifies a return to light and visibility from the darkness and unseen realms of the underworld.  This is an ancient cosmology that was synonymous with religion and relates directly to death and rebirth.  Because these stories are so old, and the echo chamber is quite strong, many of today's astrological celebrations of the Lion's Gate forget just how dark these exact same times were for families, farmers, and villages alike.  Across the ancient world, the time of vast rains meant both abundance and destruction.

Today, the rising of Sirius is no longer aligned with the summer solstice as it was 6,000 years ago.  Today, this rising happens between July and September (depending on which latitude a person is on earth's surface).  However, morphogenetic consciousness around the date and numerological symbolism of 8/8 tends to collectively pull us collectively together on this day.  Even if we are in different parts of the world, we might feel very intense emotions, sensations, or memories rise up in patterns of time and space.

Not everyone will feel the darkness at the same time, if at all, and not everyone who feels darkness is "in a bad place" or "alone".  However, each of us is responsible for feeling through the ways that our cells and DNA express the ancient memories and cosmic codes embedded within us from times long past.  How do we walk upon this planet today?  Darkness is a memory as much as it is a relationship with life.  Sometimes, we just want to forget the past, start anew, and transform ourselves fresh.  This is exactly what New Year celebrations are for!

Sometimes though, before we can celebrate, we first need to release.  Release what is inside, release what is stored, alchemize the past before we even know what the future is.  During this time, some will feel invincible, like the supreme Lion-God, ready to roar.  Others may unconsciously or consciously be in sadness or suffering that comes from loss of identity, narrative, or home.  These are all parts of the ancient history that shapes us.  So whether there is joy, pain, unconditional love, or eternal darkness, it all deserves a space to be seen, felt, heard, and expressed.

One of the greatest possibilities that exists in this way of understanding the Lion’s Gate is a direct connection to ancient cosmic energy that has flowed on this planet throughout all of time. Since the beginning of antiquity, humans have learned to harness and embody the power of the Universe. During auspicious moments, like August 8, 2024, this potential is amplified by 88 x 8! Although we may not have access to the direct wisdom and spiritual transmissions of ancient priests, goddesses, and deities, we do have access to the same cosmology, iconographs and symbolism that birthed human spirituality and orientation in space-time. Our tools and techniques for accessing this energy, power, and wisdom, may manifest in very different ways compared to the rituals and processions of the ancients, but the driving force of life, harmony, and balance is yet the same. 

Re-member yourself in kinship with the kings and queens of old. Celebrate the goddesses, call upon the names of those who came before us for protection and empowerment. Embrace your inner divine. Remember that appropriation is a common thread throughout history that changes how we associate with ourselves, our world, and our memories. Let your dreams become your intentions and let your intuition guide you. With the heart of the Lion, the soul of the Dog-Star, and the spirit of God, we are each invited to transition into harmonic consciousness, divine wisdom, and cosmic power.
